  • 2 tsp Kosher salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper Fresh ground preferred

Equipment

  • 1 Baking sheets Large size preferred
  • 1 Wire racks Helps wings crisp evenly
  • 1 Large mixing bowl For tossing wings
  • 1 Small bowl For dry rub
  • 1 Tongs Mixing and flipping wings
  • 1 Paper towels Drying chicken wings

Method

  1. Step 1:
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper and place wire racks on top.
  2. Step 2:
In a small bowl, combine honey powder, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ancho chili powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to form the dry rub.
  3. Step 3:
Pat the chicken wings completely dry using paper towels. Removing excess moisture helps the wings become crispier while baking.
  4. Step 4:
Place the wings in a large bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Toss until the wings are evenly coated.
  5. Step 5:
Sprinkle half of the seasoning mixture over the wings and toss well using tongs to coat evenly.
  6. Step 6:
Arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared wire racks, leaving a little space between each piece for proper airflow.
  7. Step 7:
Bake for about 40 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through, until they become golden brown and crispy.
  8. Step 8:
Remove the wings from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  9. Step 9:
Serve the wings warm with your favorite dipping sauce or side dishes.

Notes

  • Patting the wings dry is the key to achieving a crispy texture.
  • Use honey powder instead of liquid honey to keep the rub dry and flavorful.
  • Adjust cayenne pepper based on your preferred spice level.
  • For an air fryer, cook at 380°F for 20–22 minutes and flip halfway through.
  • Serve immediately while the wings are hot and crispy for the best taste.
